Dormitory
A bike ride from the ancient forests of Tiveden lies a 1950s village school — 53 beds, a commercial kitchen and a dining hall that seats seventy. Rent the whole house, close the gate and make the place your own.
The school closed in 2007. Since 2020 we rent out the whole building to groups who need plenty of space, their own kitchen, their own dining hall — and a setting that feels nothing like a conference hotel.
The main building dates from the 1950s and stands alongside the original school houses from the 19th century. The room names survive from the school days, as does the feel of the corridors — beautiful windows and a full-size gymnasium.
Far from the city lights — the stars shine bright over the school grounds.
Two old classrooms are dormitories. The rest are family rooms and private suites. 53 beds in total.

72 seats. High chairs available. Long tables, high ceilings, light from the school's original windows.
Convection oven, warming cabinet, commercial dishwasher and plenty of fridge and freezer space. Room for a whole group to cook together.
A former classroom converted into a library and conference room. Bookshelves, projector and space for talks or afternoon coffee.
Fully equipped. Loved by children and kickoff groups alike. Sometimes set up as a banquet hall or large conference room.
Former woodwork classroom. Sofas, armchairs, TV, instruments, toys and drawing materials.
Several workstations for anyone who needs to get some work done. Printer, projector, network cables.
The school is in Undenäs, between lakes Viken and Unden. Mossy boulders, quiet mornings, swimming off the rocks — and three kilometres to the nearest jetty.
One of Sweden's most dramatic national parks. Moss-covered boulders, ancient forest and views from Trollkyrka.
The nearest lake swim is a short bike ride away. Jetty and sandy beach.
On request we can arrange a boat and guide on Tiveden's two most beautiful lakes — perfect as a kickoff activity or half-day outing.
The kitchen is built for large-scale cooking. We can recommend local suppliers — or catering if you'd rather leave it to someone else.
“Our company has held its kickoff at Valtret two years running. There's something special about cooking dinner together in an old school kitchen.”
“Three generations under one roof, everyone had their own room and we ate every meal in the old dining hall. Magical.”
Anything from a small group up to 72 people in the dining hall. The building has 53 beds spread across dormitories, double rooms and family rooms — ideal for kickoffs, management offsites, family reunions and wedding preparations. Larger groups during the daytime (without overnight stay) are also welcome.
Bed linen can be hired for a modest cost per guest, or you can bring your own. We send a packing list before arrival.
Yes — children are warmly welcome. We have high chairs, potties, a changing table and two toilets with child seats. Playroom, gymnasium and large lawns.
The kitchen is designed for self-catering, but we're happy to recommend local caterers if you'd prefer not to cook.
The building should be left in the same condition as on arrival. We ask you to report which rooms were used. An additional cleaning charge may apply if needed.
Get in touch — we accept pets on request, depending on the group and the season.
We'll get back to you within a day with availability and a quote. A confirmation has been sent to .
